Nirvana Rambachan Naidoo, FAArb

Nirvana has over 27 years’ legal experience as an attorney, senior public sector legal executive, and advocate. Her practice encompasses labour law, commercial litigation, banking and finance, matrimonial and family law, and administrative law. She is
regularly briefed in complex litigation, disciplinary proceedings, arbitrations, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution matters.

Nirvana practised as an attorney until 1999. In 2000, she was appointed as a Legal Advisor and Mediator at the Automobile Association of South Africa. 

In 2001, she joined the South African Police Service (SAPS) as a Senior Legal Advisor at the Provincial Head Office, Gauteng. She was promoted in 2003 to the position of Section Head: Legal Support: Resources, Gauteng, at the rank of Brigadier. During her tenure with SAPS, she specialized in labour law, with particular expertise in labour litigation, arbitrations, and disciplinary proceedings. She also chaired disciplinary hearings and served as the Provincial Negotiator for Gauteng SAPS Management at the Safety and Security Sectoral Bargaining Council.

Nirvana was admitted to the Bar in 2017 and has established a diverse litigation practice with particular expertise in labour law, matrimonial and family law, banking and finance, commercial law, and administrative law. She regularly appears in the
Labour Court, High Court, Magistrates’ Courts, the CCMA, and bargaining councils.

Nirvana is an accredited Court-Annexed Mediator and is appointed to facilitate the resolution of civil disputes through court-annexed mediation. She is also a member of the Gauteng Family Law Forum.

In January 2024, Nirvana was appointed as Chairperson of the Tax Board, where she presides over the hearing and determination of income tax appeals.
