Brief curriculum vitae:

Amelia obtained her LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand pursuant to a BA and BA Honours with a focus on International Relations. She was accepted directly to the Johannesburg Bar and completed pupillage and joined the Johannesburg Bar in 2010. She is also admitted to appear in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Although she has a general civil litigation practice with experience in Banking, Contractual, Family and Property law, her particular areas of focus are in fields of Administrative and Public Interest law.

Amelia has served as a part-time lecturer at Wits University, lecturing in the Laws of Persons, and Successions. She was previously nominated as Pro Bono Advocate of the year by the Wits Law Clinic, and was the first Baha’i Advocate in South Africa.

She is a member of Advocates For Transformation, has served on the Transformation Committee of the Johannesburg Bar (2018) helping to organise the first and second Women’s Symposium for female practitioners at the Bar, and has assisted in the formulation of the Johannesburg Bar’s Sexual Harassment Policy.
Amelia is currently serving on the Sexual Harassment Committee at the Johannesburg Bar and also currently serves as one of the in-house Counsel at the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) based at Wits University.
