Brief curriculum vitae:
Prior to being called to the Bar Nicolene held various senior legal positions at Sanlam and Liberty Life. She has ten years of specialist experience in the financial, commercial, legal, insurance and fiduciary fields. With her skills and expertise, Nicolene is well equipped to provide a unique and specialist offering in the legal advisory space.
Nicolene has a wide range of qualifications, whilst studying for her LLB she qualified as a certified debt counsellor with the National Credit Regulator. This
qualification equipped her with an in-depth knowledge of; the debt review process, debt restructuring, creditor & consumer rights, sequestration & rehabilitation, the credit industry, legal remedies available to the consumer & the
creditor, the National Credit Act and the Consumer Protection Act.
After completing her LLB, she went on to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning Law at the University of the Free State, having practised in this field for nearly 10 years, this qualification further developed her niche skillset pertaining to; insurance law, pension fund law, wills & estate administration, personal financial planning law, trust law, corporate entities & structures, corporate financial planning law, tax law, investments and investment planning law.
She was then selected by Sanlam’s senior executives to participate in an Executive Development Business Management Diploma via Stellenbosch University, where she excelled as a team leader having been awarded “the team of the year” accolade which was presented to her by Sanlam’s CEO Ian Kirk.
Thereafter, Nicolene then went on to attain an LLM with distinction in international commercial law via Salford University in Manchester, UK, where she specialised in advanced contract law and negotiation, international
intellectual property law, corporate law & governance and the international law of the sale of goods.

Due to Nicolene’s specialist expertise, she has been invited as a guest speaker at many esteemed events over her career, the most notable of them are;
Event: Richard Maponya’s Annual Soweto Entrepreneurship Conference, 2015.
Topic: Business assurance and business continuity.
Other: Presented to a group of SME’s of over 1000 people in attendance, the event was televised.
Event: Young Black Management Forum, 2018.
Topic: Trust’s, the good, the bad and the ugly.
Event: Medical Doctor’s and Dentist’s Seminars (over 10 seminars).
Topic: Informed Consent, medical ethics and confidentiality.
Other: Nicolene was an accredited trainer and guest speaker for the South African Medical Association (SAMA) 2017-2018.
