Brief curriculum vitae:
Serisha Naiken holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (with majors in Law and International Relations), a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in the field of International Relations and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. During her studies, she achieved academic distinction, including Certificates of Merit in Appropriate Dispute Resolution and Law of Persons. Her postgraduate research in International Relations focused on Sharia Law, women’s social rights and international human rights standards.
Throughout her academic career, Serisha engaged extensively in leadership, advocacy and community outreach. Most notably, she served as a Founding Member and Deputy Secretary-General of the Black Lawyers Association Wits Student Chapter, was elected as an Academic Class Representative and attained multiple awards in public speaking competitions and debating tournaments.
Subsequent to the completion of her legal studies, Serisha commenced her pupillage with the Johannesburg Society of Advocates in 2025 and was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court in 2026.
