Brief curriculum vitae:

Hugh Muzikayise Mbatha started his legal career in 1995 as a trainee divisional mining law and property officer at Anglo American Corporation. Whilst doing so, he gained experience in the field of water, mineral and environmental law.
Thereafter, he was appointed by Mpumalanga Provincial Administration in 1996 as a senior Legal Administrator Officer in the department of health, social services and treasury where he gained a vast experience in drafting, amending and editing various legislation and subordinate legislation, drafting legal opinions and chairing disciplinary tribunals.
In 2000 to 2002, he was appointed as a Senior Legal Administration Officer in the Department of Housing, and in 2002 to 2005 was further appointed by the Department of Local Government and human Settlement virtually handling all legal matters relating to the departments concerned.
In 2006 to 2016, he was appointed as a Municipality Manager of Ehlanzeni Disctrict Municipality in the Capital City of Mpumalanga, and was responsible for implementing Local Government Municipal Structures Act, Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act and managing the overall running of five local municipalities including the Capital City Mbombela.
