Brief curriculum vitae:

Velisa is developing a broad civil litigation practice with particular focus in administrative law, banking and financial services law, company and contract law, insurance, insolvency, and matrimonial and family law.

Prior to entering private practice, she served as in-house legal counsel, providing strategic legal and risk management support across the banking and finance, specialised lending, commercial asset and commodity financing, investment and asset management, and financial advisory sectors. In this capacity, she advised on and facilitated complex, high-value transactions and litigation matters involving small and medium-sized enterprises, corporate entities, and state-owned institutions.

Velisa has extensive experience managing diverse stakeholder interests, working closely with boards of directors, executive leadership, and regulatory authorities. She provides strategic counsel on the development, implementation, and governance of internal legal policies, precedents, and operational procedures, ensuring compliance while supporting business objectives.

With over a decade of experience as a legal practitioner, Velisa has honed a strong commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach to legal problem-solving. She is recognised for her exceptional drafting skills, measured and intuitive dispute resolution strategies, and keen ability to interpret and apply complex legal frameworks.
